Does living inland mean I avoid the salt-air problem?
Largely, yes. Summerville is far enough from the water that coil corrosion is much less of an issue than it is on the barrier islands. Humidity, pollen and crawlspace ductwork are the local concerns instead. If you own a second property closer to the coast, that one needs a different approach.
My house is cool but still feels sticky. Is that normal?
Common, but not something you have to live with. It almost always means the system is oversized and short-cycling, so it never runs long enough to dehumidify. We can measure it and tell you whether the answer is a control change, a staged system or a dedicated dehumidifier.
Do you work on systems you did not install?
